Ein Vorschlag zur Lösung
Der Ansatz, "Apokalypse" mit großer Vernichtung gleichzusetzen, ist im Bilderkanon fest verankert. Alle bemühen das Spiel mit Beklemmung und Angst, die beinahe unausweichlich an den Begriff gebunden sind.
In ihrer TUBES Serie APOCALYPSE kehrt Ela Nord diesen Ansatz um und betrachtet sie stattdessen als reinigendes Ereignis. Die Apokalypse wird als ein neutraler Transformator aufgefasst. Die Formel könnte lauten: Apokalypse = Asche = Metamorphose.
Die verwendeten Materialien sind nicht organisch. Durch den Arbeitsprozess entstehen neue Gefüge, Modelle und Oberflächen, die natürliche Rohstoffe abbilden wollen, wie Holz, Papier, Leder, Kohle, Äste oder Knochen.
Für die tragbare Form der Halsketten wird ein schrittweiser Verbrennungsprozess angewandt, bei dem die Asche in mehreren Zwischenschritten entfernt wird, bis das Material schließlich stabilisiert und damit in eine angenehme Form gebracht ist.
Aus einem gewöhnlichen Material (wenn auch nur scheinbar) ein anderes Material zu schaffen, kennzeichnet die Serie TUBES: Indem wir etwas in einen anderen Zustand verwandeln, erhalten wir Ergebnisse, die uns positiv an den tiefgreifenden Prozess der Erneuerung und Umgestaltung erinnern.
Ela Nord sammelt Reste von Elektrikern für ihre Schmuckstücke. Ihre Vision ist es, dass wir in Zukunft Materialien verwenden, die nicht wie heute gewaltsam der Natur entrissen werden. Wir sollten schnell handeln und die Verwendung dieser Ressourcen überdenken, denn echte organische Quellen werden sicherlich irgendwann zu kostbar sein oder sogar in ein paar Jahren verschwinden.
Objekte, die vorgeben, organisch zu sein, obwohl sie es nicht sind, könnten eine Lösung sein.
The approach of equating "Apocalypse" with great destruction is firmly anchored in the canon of images. All of them strive to play with anxiety and fear, which are almost inescapably tied to the concept.
In her TUBES series “Apocalypse”, Ela Nord reverses this approach and instead views the apocalypse as a purifying event. The apocalypse is a neutral transformer. The manufacturing process creates new textures, models, and surfaces that seek to reproduce natural raw materials, such as wood, paper, leather, coal, branches, or bones.
A step-by-step burning process is used for the wearable form of the necklaces, and the ash is removed in several intermediate steps until finally the material is stabilized and thus brought into a comfortable form. Creating another material from an ordinary material (even if only apparent) characterizes the series TUBES: by transforming something into a different state, we get results that remind us positively of the profound process of renewal and reformation.
Ela Nord collects leftovers from electricians for her jewelry. Her vision is that in the future we will use materials that are not forcibly snatched from nature, as is happening today. We should act quickly and rethink the use of these resources, because genuine organic sources will certainly become too precious at some point or even disappear in a few years.
